Produce Aplenty – Discover the Region’s Best Farmers Markets

There’s no better way to explore a place than through its food! Nestled between the rich agricultural regions of the Otway Ranges, Bellarine Peninsula and Golden Plains, residents at Willow Mt Duneed get to enjoy the region’s finest produce. We’ve put together a list of our five favourite local farmers markets so that you can explore all the delicacies the City of Greater Geelong has to offer.

Geelong Waterfront Makers & Growers Market

Set on the lawns of Steampacket Gardens, the Geelong Waterfront Makers and Growers Market is held on the first Sunday of every month from 10am to 2pm. With great views, live music, food trucks and a variety of stalls, it is a lively affair. One can find anything from farm-fresh produce to beautiful crafts including timber toys, soaps, and jewellery. Best of all, the market is dog friendly, so you can bring the pooch down to check out the action before a nice walk along the eastern beach promenade.

South Geelong Farmers Market

Held at the quaint South Geelong Primary School, South Geelong Farmers Market provides an opportunity for local growers to showcase their wares. Among other things, you’ll find fresh fruit and vegetables, eggs, bread, gourmet sausages and local wines – all sold by the very people who grew and created them. Head down to 200 Yarra Street, South Geelong on the 1st or 3rd Sunday of the month between 9am to 1pm and take your tastebuds on a journey.

Torquay Farmers Market

The closest market on the Great Ocean Road, Torquay Farmers Market is one of the most popular in the region. It runs every Saturday morning from 8:30am to 1pm in the car park of the Surf Coast Shire Offices. A cosy market, with relaxing live music to set the mood, there is plentiful fresh food, superb artisanal produce and gorgeous art and craft. Popular for its ethically farmed meat and dairy, quality seafood, sweet treats, and warmed baked bread, you can see why it brings in locals and tourists alike. Don’t forget to bring your own bags as the market is leading the way by becoming the first free from plastic.

Rotary Ocean Grove Market

Situated among the gums of Ocean Grove Park, the Rotary Ocean Grove Market is held on the first Sunday of every month from October through to April between 9am-1pm. It boasts a wide range of stalls, from stunning handcrafts to native plants and fresh fruit and vegetables. The market has a great family atmosphere, with bouncing castles and face painting on offer.

Queenscliff Community Market

Established in 1975, the Queenscliff Community market is a local institution. Touted as the best market on the Bellarine peninsula, it has over 190 stalls to peruse. The beautiful setting in Princess Park is a stone’s throw from the beach and pier, making for some scenic shopping. The market runs on the last Sunday of the month from September to May between 9am-2pm. Among the many stalls you can find high quality fresh food and artisanal goods, as well as unique local artwork, jewellery, and other crafts. There is also a play space to keep the little ones occupied!
